A few weeks ago, I collaborated with the producers of KQED's Deep Look to film an episode on the 'Glasswing' butterfly, a beautiful organism that I've had the privilege to spend some time studying. KQED was kind enough to let me dedicate the episode to my mom, Debbie Ford, who recently passed unexpectedly.

A wonderful video produced by Dr. Joe Hanson, featuring butterfly CRISPR work by Dr. Arnaud Martin’s lab and myself discussing butterfly wing development

I'm very excited to be featured in a PBS Nature Documentary entitled, Nature: Sex, Lies and Butterflies http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/sex-lies-butterflies/

This new Nature special explores the astonishing survival techniques of butterflies, including their 360° vision, deceptive camouflage, chemical weaponry, and fantastic flight across continents.

It will feature butterfly research from around the globe, including a study I co-authored on a new ant-butterfly relationship in Peru (http://www.bioone.org/doi/abs/10.18473/lepi.70i2.a8). The documentary aired on Wednesday, April 4 at 8pm EST on PBS. More info about how to watch can be found here: http://www.thirteen.org/13pressroom/press-release/nature-sex-lies-butterflies/
